Tom Junod says John Walker Lindh persecuted - NPR interview

Saturday, June 17th, 2006

I was driving home from work today and listened to Michele Norris interview with Tom Junod who had spent three months at the federal prison interviewing those around John Walker Lindh.

I couldn’t believe what he said.

Remember that John Walker Lindh was the American Taliban from a wealthy suburb found fighting with Iraqi troops in a Jihad against American and allied troops.

Click the interview, then press play on the player and listen to what he said–drag the bars for the volume.

Now how could anyone in his right mind state that American freedom was the worse showing how we have persecuted this man? I suppose Junod has blindly fallen into the idea that America is removing Lindh’s religious freedom or some such nonsense.

Where did Junod come from, anyway? Is he himself part of the Jihad?

John Walker Lindh was firing upon American forces. He was lucky not to be shot for his treason.

This had nothing to do with religious freedom. He is jailed for treason against his country.

Tom Junod, you are a dangerous kind of man with a very skewed sense of what freedom is all about.

Veterans grave markers - No Tombstones - Denied

Sunday, May 14th, 2006

Well, it was really cool watching the excitement my dad had when he discovered an old buddy from his regiment living about 45 minutes from his home. Between the two of them, they pulled together quite a collection of items from their service years in the 1950’s. They had been stationed together in Japan during the occupation, and were both held over to serve a second term when the Korean Conflict began. Dad was only 2 weeks from his discharge when he was ‘frozen’ for another three and a half years. He served seven years in all.

The two of them had a lot of fun remembering and reminding one another of the things they had forgotten, but that came out when they were together.

As my dad had gotten older, his mention of his years and events in the army had become more frequent. You could see the pride he had for his service.

My dad was always one to go over board reminding someone about anything. He had told us all several times there would be no need to get a tombstone or grave marker. He wanted the marker the army would supply at his death. It was another point of pride for him.

I spent some time repairing old photos he had in Photo Shop and pulling what information was still available about old ships and places from the internet. He had even pulled out his old uniform and worn it on several occasions. We thought it a bit quaint, or even silly. But dad sure didn’t. He put on his uniform, and wore it with all the dignity and spit-n-shine of his active duty years in the 50’s.

Well, dad died a couple of months ago. It was sudden, but dad had lived a good full life. He was a great dad. Now it is time for his tribute.

But, it seems there will be no tribute for dad from the army. No. I just talked to mom this morning for Mother’s Day. She told me the Veteran’s had refused the grave marker.

I sure am glad dad didn’t see this. His pride went with him. We will remember his service, even if his country will not.

The world has changed a lot since American blood was shed in Korea. Now, the Korea they died for is even in jeopardy.

But know this: Fifty years ago, your brothers died for freedom on fields in Korea. My dad was with them. He was proud to do his duty. He served his country.

May this tribute stand for him where his country fails to remember.

So be it.

Deporting Twelve Million Illegal Immigrants - Politics!

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

OK, so the house and congress are feverishly working on law to protect and secure our borders since 911.

“Wow, we have over 12,000,000 illegal immigrants in the United States,” they proclaim to the world. “This is totally out of control. We have to get rid of these illegal immigrants. This is a dangerous, terrorist hiding situation that can’t continue.”

So, now they’re fighting over how to get rid of the problem.

But, many illegal aliens have been working here for years. They have lives. They have families that are all legal–many with families of there own. Many are as much a part of the United States as any citizen.

It doesn’t matter. We’ll deport them all.

What a JOKE!! Has anyone stopped to consider how many illegal immigrants twelve million people is, exactly?

That’s around half the population of the world’s most populated city. There are only around 23 million people in Mexico City, the most populated city in the world. We’re going to deport half the number of people as are in the largest populated city in the world? That’s absolutely ridiculous to even contemplate!

No one in their right mind would even consider such a possibility. Oh, I forgot. We’re talking about the United States Congress.

Let’s see, we are so easily finding all the illegal immigrants now at any time we want. Let’s just pass a law and get rid of them. Can anyone grab a congressman and shake him a bit for me? We can’t find the illegal immigrants now, you morons. They’re already illegal. Note the term illegal immigrants you continue to use. We are so successful at law enforcement. Gee, there are only 12 million of them here. Let’s just control this with another law.

You know, I can’t hardly stomach the political mum-bo jumbo any more. Why don’t you guys get real. Law won’t change this problem.

Wait. Wait. I’m going to be a prophet. Here it is: “This will never happen. Get a grip.”

We better start on plan ‘B’ now. I can tell you already, that plan ‘A’ sucks.
