Deporting Twelve Million Illegal Immigrants - Politics!

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

OK, so the house and congress are feverishly working on law to protect and secure our borders since 911.

“Wow, we have over 12,000,000 illegal immigrants in the United States,” they proclaim to the world. “This is totally out of control. We have to get rid of these illegal immigrants. This is a dangerous, terrorist hiding situation that can’t continue.”

So, now they’re fighting over how to get rid of the problem.

But, many illegal aliens have been working here for years. They have lives. They have families that are all legal–many with families of there own. Many are as much a part of the United States as any citizen.

It doesn’t matter. We’ll deport them all.

What a JOKE!! Has anyone stopped to consider how many illegal immigrants twelve million people is, exactly?

That’s around half the population of the world’s most populated city. There are only around 23 million people in Mexico City, the most populated city in the world. We’re going to deport half the number of people as are in the largest populated city in the world? That’s absolutely ridiculous to even contemplate!

No one in their right mind would even consider such a possibility. Oh, I forgot. We’re talking about the United States Congress.

Let’s see, we are so easily finding all the illegal immigrants now at any time we want. Let’s just pass a law and get rid of them. Can anyone grab a congressman and shake him a bit for me? We can’t find the illegal immigrants now, you morons. They’re already illegal. Note the term illegal immigrants you continue to use. We are so successful at law enforcement. Gee, there are only 12 million of them here. Let’s just control this with another law.

You know, I can’t hardly stomach the political mum-bo jumbo any more. Why don’t you guys get real. Law won’t change this problem.

Wait. Wait. I’m going to be a prophet. Here it is: “This will never happen. Get a grip.”

We better start on plan ‘B’ now. I can tell you already, that plan ‘A’ sucks.

BMI Weight Calculator - Diet Plan

Monday, March 27th, 2006

On this page, you have all the tools you need for a complete weight loss program. Do NOT pay for free information given here.

BookMark this page and continue to use the free BMI calculator and Calorie Counter chart for your own custom weight loss program.

Body Mass Index (BMI)

BMI is a term that isn’t completely familiar to everyone. It is short for Body Mass Index. It approaches a standard, and is the common choice for physicians and for research concerning obesity. With a mathematical formula, BMI uses a person’s height and weight for the calculation. Your Body Mass Index is equal to your weight in kilograms divided by your height in meters squared. It is expressed as BMI=kg/m2.

In the table below, the risks for disease associated with being over weight or obese are listed based on BMI and waist size for women and men. For your convenience, use the calculator below the chart for your BMI.

Risk of
Associated Disease According to BMI and Waist Size

BMI   Waist less than or
equal to

40 in. (men) or
35 in. (women)
Waist greater than
40 in. (men) or
35 in. (women)
18.5 or less Underweight N/A
18.5 - 24.9 Normal N/A
25.0 - 29.9 Overweight Increased High
30.0 - 34.9 Obese High Very High
35.0 - 39.9 Obese Very High Very High
40 or greater Extremely Obese Extremely High Extremely High

Below are two daily calorie counter charts. The first chart estimates the calories burned daily for men. The second chart estimates the calories burned daily for women. In each calorie counter column, there is a lower number based on individuals with passive lifestyles and a higher number based on individuals with a moderate degree of physical activity working and exercising. Use these as a guide to provide calorie intake levels for you to lose weight.

It’s very simple. Find your chart listing and lifestyle. Stay below the calorie count for you, and you will lose weight. Don’t pay for some expensive plan. It’s as simple as less calorie intake than you burn in order to lose weight.

Winning the Lottery, What was it like?

Thursday, March 23rd, 2006

What was it like to win the lottery?

Well, first off, I can remember when our group at work would each talk about what we would do if we won. It’s really a big insight into every aspect of a person’s life.

We called our group the ‘corporation.’ We usually would put $5.00 each into it. However, that amount would usually climb as the amount in the lottery went up. We always played Power Ball. But, we would take turns buying the tickets. Each person could decide how to spend the pool when it was their turn to buy. We would run copies of all the tickets and distribute them to each person in the corporation. The number of people in the corporation would go up and down. I just had to be in it. I would have kicked myself forever if that one time I didn’t get in was the one time it hit. That could almost ruin your life for good.

One of the guys made us all swear not to let anyone know he was in the ‘corporation.’ He didn’t want it to get back to his ex-wife if we ever won anything. He couldn’t even consider the possibility of that drug addicted ‘witch’ getting any more of his money.

One of the guys never made any secret to his wife being gone if he won it. Now there’s a happy marriage for you. They stayed together, why?, before winning? I think he was the first to tell me the joke about the guy that won the lottery and told his wife to pack her bags when he got home. When she asked if she should pack for cold weather or warm weather he told he he didn’t care–as long as she was gone by morning. Anyway, he always said he would give his wife half and they would just go their separate ways.

One of the other guys was going to stay home and get drunk every day. All he wanted was to quit and drink. Now, there’s a formula for longevity, I used to think.

As the amount in the lottery would change, someone would always have it figured what each of our splits would be after taxes. Of course we never even considered anything except the lump sum payment. Some of us wanted to get a lawyer to handle it all, so no one would ever know who had actually won the money.

Just about everyone said they would never go back to work again, except, some, to gloat. Some used to get rather elaborate with their stories of how they would say this or that, or leave some ruthless email to that person, or tell off that boss.

Me? I never said much about it. But, I always started out calculating exactly how much I would have to invest with my split. I would calculate the return for around an 8% investment. That’s about as much as you can get with low risk. I would pay off all debt, make the investment, help the people on my help list, and live happily ever after.

The amount I had to have, in my head, before I could quit work started out being enough to earn at least $80,000.00 per year. But, after several months of hoping and dreaming, that amount kept going down. I finally had it calculated where I could retire if I only had $20,000.00 a year coming in.

I used to say “No bills, except maybe a car, gas and electric, phone, internet, and whatever you need to eat out occasionally. Shoot, I could retire with as little as $15,000 a year, maybe.

Every time someone would say how stupid we were, we would remind them that SOMEONE had to win it. Anyone that ever won it had the same chance. It was worth a buck just to be in the game–just to have the hope, the fun, the dream of life changing. It was that much fun even if we never won it.

So, actually winning the lottery, what was it like?

I pray to God I can tell you that, after we win it tonight!

Regards.

Life after Debt, bury the Credit Cards

Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

My parents never had a credit card.
I met, and married my wife in 1982. Her parents had only had a gas card.

We didn’t have much money. We were poor college students. Our gross income was less than $15,000. Life was good.

We had our daughter in the middle of my junior year. It was financially tough. And, one just has to have home movies of the kids when they’re small. Sears had this great video camera. It was a freak by today’s standards, but it was great for the early 1980’s. We charged it on the Sears Credit card. When we signed up, we got some free pans. It was a good deal. We could pay it off at our convenience.

We got a new color TV that Christmas. There was this great new technology that would really help with school. There was Commodore, Atari, and Apple to choose from too.

My wife had to have an operation. It wasn’t covered by her new insurance yet. That was expensive. We needed new tires for the car at the same time. And, Christmas came around every year. We had to cover a huge expense when we moved to another state.

We bought a house. The car broke down. Another Christmas rolled around. We paid off another credit card with a new one with lower interest.

Ok, I won’t detail every year of our last 24 married years of bliss. I think you get the picture. One thing led to another along with some bad choices. That and the need to have what we wanted as soon as we could get it finally had us paying more for credit card debt than anything else in our lives.

Let me just say we had over $90,000.00 in non-secured credit card debt. We were making good money, but living from paycheck to paycheck. Finally, one day, it all broke. By our best calculations we had 2 months before we would go under–totally under.

We sought help with debt consolidation. At the end of the day, we just couldn’t do that. They actually told us they usually dealt with people who were already behind in their payments. We needed to quit paying our credit cards until they were behind. Then, they would approach each card with a take it or leave it deal. We would only be responsible for about 15% - 20% of our original debt by the time they were done dealing with our creditors.

I won’t judge anyone who had to take that route. I’m thankful we didn’t have to do so.

What did we do? Well, our house had a lot of equity. We were able to get a first mortgage that covered a lot of the debt. A second mortgage made it where we could breathe again. Finally, we cut up every credit card we ever had.

That was just over 2 years ago.

We have paid the remaining items off, one by one.

Now, we actually have a plan to be totally debt free. We won’t owe on anything but the house in another 2 years. And, we plan to have that paid off in another 5 years after that. So, we’ll be totally debt free in 7 years. We only have a debit card. We save for anything we get.

By comparison, we live like king and queen now. I just had to pay over $1000.00 to fix one of the vehicles this last month. We didn’t touch savings. We didn’t touch a card. I paid for it out of checking–not even savings–and still had twice what I needed to pay our bills. And that’s even with doubling up on the remaining debt.

So, don’t you dare be stupid like we were.

You know when I use a card now? When I can get 0% interest for something I have to get anyway. I divide the amount into the months before it is due and set up my automatic on-line bill pay. I got tires last year that way for three vehicles.

Credit cards? Cut them up. Tear them up. Bury them. They will destroy your life.

You can truly enjoy a happy life when you live debt free. Learn to work for what you have. After you save for it and finally get it you actually enjoy it even more. It becomes fulfilling in a way you never expected.

Regards.
